Training in facilitation to transform organizations from within

To lead the ecological and social transition, organizations will have to adapt their economic models and their ways of working with the people who make them up. Recruiters are looking for new skills, such as collective intelligence, non-violent communication and facilitation, to lead these changes. Let's talk about facilitation! What is facilitation? What is it used for? How can this skill help lead organizational changes? How do you train for it? We'll tell you all about it !

What is facilitation?

Responsible for the agenda, master of time, manager of discussions... a facilitator is multi-faceted! His/her role is to help groups work together, by encouraging everyone's participation, by promoting non-violent communication between members and by defusing blockages that slow down the progress of projects. In short, the facilitator is there to guide the group and help it accomplish its goals by creating a positive and collaborative environment. As a mediator, he/she is not supposed to intervene by giving his/her opinion or advice. However, he/she can provide guidance to ensure that the group stays on track.

His/her qualities? A good listener, the facilitator is also able to ask open-ended questions, bounce back on what is being said, step aside when necessary, and manage conflict in a group. A good facilitator also has the ability to adapt his/her approach to the needs and specificities of the group with which he/she is interacting. A facilitator can be an external professional or an internal person with this dedicated role or with this skill in addition to their role in the company. For example, the facilitator may be a communications, CSR or project management manager who has the skill.

Why do we need facilitators?

In a context of ecological and social transition, for some organizations, the challenge is to know how to implement CSR strategies that are consistent with their business and culture. For others, the challenge is to manage relationships and internal conflicts in order to bring about change under the right conditions. For others, the transition is not a subject, it is already in their DNA, but it is more a question of knowing how to organize projects to make their actions visible. For some years now, a key skill that allows us to lead these different projects and changes in human organizations is facilitation.
