Description de la mission

About Earthworm

With most of our staff operating directly on the ground where the issues are, we work with our members and partners to make value chains an engine of prosperity for communities and ecosystems.

Since 2018, we have been working with farmers, cooperatives and businesses to develop resilient and sustainable agriculture. Today, in Europe, we support more than 500 farmers in their transition to regenerative agriculture through our dedicated program, working in partnership with dozens of cooperatives, companies, and traders. Together, we act at both the farm and farming system levels to provide technical and economic support throughout the transition.

Our approach is farmer-centric, deeply rooted in field realities, grounded in the measurement of key indicators, scientifically robust, and driven by innovation.

Your Role

As EU Innovation Lead, you will play a central role in defining agronomic frameworks, indicators, and tools. You will work closely with scientists from various institutions, technical partners, farmers, and agri-food companies. Your role will include improving measurement and reporting frameworks, analyzing results, and contributing to the research and development of new tools and indicators related to soil health, climate, biodiversity, water, and the social dimensions of farming systems.

The role can be located either in Lyon or in Lille.

Your main responsibilities will be:

Leading the Regenerative Agriculture Innovation Strategy in Europe

· Drive the innovation strategy for regenerative agriculture across Europe (partic. France, Spain, Turkey, and Switzerland), define funding strategies, coordinate grant applications and oversee R&D projects over time (planning, budget, reporting), ensuring scientific coordination.

· Build, strengthen, and expand a network of scientific partners (researchers, universities, institutions, start-ups), including identifying and benchmarking new potential partners

Continuous Improvement of Agronomic Frameworks, analysis of results, tools development:

· Work with a scientific committee to refine indicators used in projects and develop performance scales that meet the needs of farmers, public and private funders, and field technicians. Adapt indicators to diverse agricultural contexts across countries and regions

· Analyze all data collected, identify meaningful trends, and interpret results considering agronomic realities

· Develop and consolidate agro-economic modelling tools that assess the environmental and economic impacts of transitions

Communication, representation and team management:

· Support the recognition of Earthworm’s methods and tools at European and international levels (e.g., SAI Platform), strengthening their robustness and credibility.

· Communicate results, impacts, and learnings from various projects internally and externally

· Represent Earthworm Foundation at conferences, workshops, and partner events

· Manage and lead a team of experts and collaborate within diverse, international teams.

Profil recherché

Passionate about solving real-world challenges and delivering practical, science-based solutions for agricultural systems, you bring strong expertise in agronomy within France and Europe (Master in Agronomy or related field required), and hands-on experience in the field.

You bring a strategic mindset, with the ability to drive the innovation strategy for regenerative agriculture, secure funding and manage innovation projects throughout their lifecycle.

Your experience working with agricultural businesses makes you understand supply chain dynamics, sustainability standards, expectations and challenges of corporate stakeholders and farmers. Communicating clearly and confidently, you thrive in conveying your messaging the appropriate way with openness and pedagogical skills, whatever the audience.

You have experience with data analysis tools such as R or Python and are proficient in standard office tools.

Driven by a strong commitment to impact both people and the planet, you act in a proactive, collaborative and empathic manner in every situation.
