The sustainable transformation of companies, a challenge to be met!

Between the high temperatures, the water shortages and the fires of this summer 2022, we have been served in France! The increase of temperatures around the world is a reality. We know that it is not possible to turn back the clock, but we can limit global warming. In any case, this is an objective stated in the IPCC report of 2021 which recommends, in order to limit warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius, to reduce net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 50% by 2030 compared to 2010 levels and to reach carbon neutrality by 2050. The challenge is political, economic and social. Laws are already on the way, such as the anti-waste and circular economy law, the law on energy transition for green growth or the law on biodiversity. They all set a timetable and targets for communities, companies and households to achieve.

CSR to meet the challenges of the ecological transition

For companies, the main challenge will be to change business models to meet new legislation and changing societal expectations. The challenge is to implement eco-responsible strategies through CSR, Corporate Social Responsibility. It consists of integrating into its practices the well-being and health of employees, the expectations of the company's stakeholders, respect for the environment and governance consistent with these approaches. In 2019, the Pact law (Action Plan for Growth and Transformation of Companies) has enabled progress in corporate social and environmental responsibility, making it mandatory for all companies to "take into consideration the social and environmental issues of its activity" (Article 1833 of the Civil Code). From now on, managers must identify the social and environmental issues of their company in order to make operating decisions and strategic choices accordingly. Since this law, companies can also include in their statutes the notion of "company with a mission", which consists of including social and environmental objectives in addition to economic ones.

To develop these new strategies, skills are now necessary in companies: to know the components of CSR, to be able to imagine solutions and concrete actions in the company, to build with all stakeholders, to convince a team of the need to change the way of doing things, to communicate without falling into greenwashing? There are trainings adapted to all profiles (for employees, managers, executives), in order to be able to lead organizational changes!
