Digital Marketing Coordinator (PETA France)

You know how to create compelling social media content, build engaged audiences, and use digital platforms to start conversations that inspire people to take positive action for animals. You are comfortable editing short-form video, following social media trends and influencer culture, and reacting quickly to relevant cultural moments. To inspire millions of people to take positive action for animals through compelling social media content, digital storytelling, online engagement, and blog posts.

Primary Duties:

  • Develop original, creative, and compelling content for social media, including posts, captions, graphics, short-form videos, stories, reels, and platform-specific content.
  • Monitor social media trends, influencers, cultural moments, and breaking news, and suggest timely ways for PETA France to respond in a way that challenges speciesism and advances animal rights.
  • Edit short-form video content for social media, adapting materials for platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and X.
  • Identify opportunities to work with, engage, or respond to influencers, creators, and public figures relevant to PETA France’s campaigns.
  • Facilitate online conversations about animal rights, vegan living, cruelty-free fashion, and PETA’s campaigns in a confident, informed, and engaging way.
  • Plan, write, and build new blog posts on PETA France’s website, focusing on vegan food, cruelty-free fashion, animal rights news, and campaign priorities.
  • Research campaign-related information for web features, social media posts, influencer engagement, and digital campaign materials.
  • Track and analyse web traffic, social media performance, video views, engagement, and campaign results, adapting strategies based on findings.
  • Partner closely with PETA France's campaigns and press teams to maximise the online impact of campaigns, investigations, media moments, and other projects through creative content, timely social media engagement, and digital storytelling.
  • Work with international PETA entity teams to share ideas, adapt campaign materials, and help ensure that digital campaigns are timely, creative, and effective.
  • Help coordinate and attend Paris-based events as needed, including demonstrations, actions, and celebrity photo shoots.
  • Monitor social media outside standard working hours when necessary, including evenings or weekends during urgent campaigns, breaking news moments, or major campaign launches.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.​

Profile

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Native or near-native French speaker with at least conversational English
  • Excellent French writing skills and an understanding of what resonates with people online
  • At least two years of professional experience in running social media accounts on platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok and an understanding of the unique benefits and challenges of each platform
  • Proven ability to deliver creative, engaging, and compelling digital content
  • Comfortable editing short-form video for social media and adapting content for different platforms.
  • Knowledge of animal rights issues and commitment to and enthusiasm for PETA’s objectives
  • Extremely social media-savvy, with a strong awareness of platform trends, influencer culture, memes, cultural moments, and emerging formats.
  • Good eye for design and confident user of Canva or photo and video editing tools
  • Strong understanding of how to use timely, provocative, and creative content to challenge speciesism and promote animal rights
  • Strong analytical abilities and experience measuring the effectiveness of social media, video, web, or digital campaigns.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with a large workload and shifting priorities.
  • Willingness to monitor and respond to social media activity during evenings or weekends when necessary.
  • Strong work ethic with a focus on efficiency and exceptional attention to detail
  • Proactive attitude and the ability to think creatively and come up with new ideas for promoting PETA’s core mission
  • Knowledge of animal rights issues and commitment to and enthusiasm for PETA’s objectives.
  • Proven ability to work independently as a contractor while collaborating effectively with colleagues across teams and countries
  • Adherence to a vegan lifestyle strongly preferred
