Climate Whistleblowers is an NGO based in Paris that protects individuals who expose wrongdoings that worsen the climate crisis and helps them have a greater impact. It means providing support in terms of security, legal proceedings, as well as investigations and working with media to produce impactful reports, articles or videos.

CW was created in 2023. It published its first investigations in Fall of 2024, and is working with a dozen of whistleblowers on various climate issues across the world : greenwashing, false audits, soil and water pollution, etc.

The Platform to Protect Whistleblowers in Africa (PPLAAF) is an NGO based in France, Senegal and South Africa, staffed by experienced lawyers and journalists who offer legal services and advice to whistleblowers seeking to share information about issues in the public interest. PPLAAF supports whistleblowers whose disclosures speak to the public interest of African citizens and ensures they have a greater impact.

Since its creation in 2017, PPLAAF has supported dozens of whistleblowers from CEOs to security personnel, bankers, and civil servants. PPLAAF has relocated families and provided asylum for them, conducted risk assessments, worked with governments and law enforcement officials, created international investigative collaborations, and constructed lawsuits for NGOs. PPLAAF’s work permitted the disclosure of large-scale economic crimes in major media .

The Role

CW and PPLAAF have been scaling up their activities in the past years, increasing their support to whistleblowers, their partnerships with CSOs and media, and their online presence, with CW specifically gaining traction after its recent launch. Both organizations now need to structure and strengthen their communication. In order to reach a larger audience, amongst which potential whistleblowers, and to reach its ambitious objectives for the years to come, PPLAAF and CW are looking to recruit a communication officer who would share its time between the two structures.

In close relationship with directors based in Paris, as well as with the team members based in other countries, the Communication Officer will implement PPLAAF and CW’s communication’s guidelines, contribute to the development of its brand, implement daily communication tasks as well as support the team in doing it too.

The job is a full-time position, based in Paris (France). It can exceptionally be based in Johannesburg (South Africa) or Dakar (Sénégal).

The start date is the beginning of March 2025. It is however flexible, based on availability.
