PUR is seeking an engaging and impact driven individual for a role of Project Manager to join its Côte d’Ivoire team.

PUR has been working in Ivory Coast, since 2019, implementing ecosystem restoration projects in cocoa. To date, +1,100.000 trees have been planted with +7 000 smallholder farmers and several livelihoods activities such as beekeeping, fish breeding, improved cookstoves, vsla have been put in place to support tree permanence and women empowerment.

As PUR is continuing its expansion in Ivory Coast, we are looking for a dynamic and organized Projects Manager who will report directly to the Country Manager and interact/collaborate with a number of colleagues based in the Africa, Paris and other PUR’s offices. S/He will lead a seasoned team consisting of Field Coordinators and supervisors.

S/He will be responsible for the overall management of projects and for coordination with the partners (cocoa and coffee cooperatives, traders, consultants…), the technical supervision of the project implementation activities and for quality assurance on a specific geographical area.

You'll work in the cocoa and coffee sector and have these key responsibilities, but not limited to:

  • Project development : Identify and pursue opportunities to scale projects in Côte d’Ivoire in line with PUR’s vision - support project feasibility assessments in the country and contribute to the development of project roadmaps aligning with key industry frameworks and/or carbon accounting methodologies

  • Project management : Be responsible for detailed annual work-planning and timely execution of activities. Train and manage field staffs and support local partners. Develop/contribute to training contents when relevant. Ensure proper budgeting and timely expenditures according to country budget and schedule. Ensure quality of implementation, improve proceedings, and coordinate impact monitoring activities. Be responsible for the resource management of the projects (workload, recruitment advice...). Be accountable for the submission of the supplier/partners invoices in a timely manner. Communicate to the Country Manager if there is any delay.

  • Data : Adapt and implement the data collection forms to the project's local context where relevant, coordinate and monitor the implementation of data collection with local partners and local teams, providing training when necessary. Ensure the consolidation and the analysis of projects data and be able to provide data-driven reports to the Country Manager and other relevant internal and external stakeholders. Ensure proper implementation of the continuous verification process in his/her area of operations.

  • Deliverable management : Ensure timely submission of project deliverables, check deliverables according to criteria before validation by the Country Manager.

  • Reporting: Contribute to the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning efforts and support the implementation of the project's impact monitoring strategies

  • Partnership and representation : Identify, build relationships and supervise local partners (cooperatives, consultants, clients). Represent PUR publicly at conferences and meetings when needed.


You have solid project management skills, strong data-driven decision making, contract management, strong communication skills and demonstrated ability to negotiate with different categories of stakeholders, both in french and english; You are familiar to cocoa and coffee communities in Côte d’Ivoire and their challenges; You are passionate about natural resources management, forestry, landscape management and you want to have a strong impact, this position is for you!





Profil recherché


We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Master’s Degree or equivalent experience in relevant fields including but not limited to sustainability, agriculture, agroforestry, environmental sciences;

  • Proven track record with over 5 years of experience in agroforestry in the cocoa or coffee supply chain in Côte d’Ivoire including at least 2 years of demonstrated managerial experience

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Kobo, PowerBi, ArGIS, SurveyCTO and Google Drive

  • Must be fluent in French and English.

  • Knowledge in agribusiness, market access and/or carbon certification for reforestation projects will be a strong asset.

  • Experience in training, but also in development of training and/or communications material is a clear asset

  • Proven attention to detail, ability to work independently, and self-driven in completing tasks

  • Proven communication skills including interpersonal and written
