📖 Background

Climate change is an economic problem first, and a financial problem second.

It’s an economic problem in the sense that runaway greenhouse gas emissions are a negative externality: they generate a cost to society that isn’t priced at its source. In a sense, climate change is the name we give to the sum of these costs. To reduce emissions at scale, these costs need to be internalized by pricing emissions.

It’s a financial problem in the sense that while we have the technologies and the know-how to mitigate global warming and suppress emissions, we’re collectively failing at allocating enough financial ressources to these solutions.

These two problems are linked: by pricing emissions efficiently, the right level of incentives are created to steer investments towards decarbonation solutions.

Homaio was born from these observations.

🎯 Our mission

Carbon pricing is the fairest and most efficient mechanism to drive systemic change in production, consumption, and investment patterns. Emissions trading schemes, which are market-based approaches to carbon pricing, are being implemented throughout the world. Their trading unit - carbon allowances - are evolving into a new global asset class which has the potential to deliver significant emissions reduction.

Yet they remain walled off to individual investors.

By unlocking carbon allowances, we’re empowering individual investors to leverage their collective financial power to accelerate the transformative potential of emissions trading schemes. As carbon prices increase, polluters have a greater incentive to invest in decarbonation solutions, funneling massive investments in clean industries. We’re also diversifying market participants while adding liquidity, thus nurturing a well-functioning market to finance the future.

Homaio exists because no other product or platform offers a simple and trustworthy access to climate finance products that deliver both returns and impact to climate conscious investors. We want to be the most recognized and most relevant climate finance platform of our generation.

Monsters, because we’re tackling an immense challenge (global warming) in an extremely contrarian way (democratizing compliance carbon markets). We’re trailblazing on the very fringes of climate finance, pushing regulatory, technical, and political hurdles. What we do is hard, and we feed off that challenge.

👉 **Homaio is a VC-funded startup at the intersection of climate & fintech. The company is five month old. We already have clients and generate revenue, but this is the very beginning of the adventure.

The role will give you unparalleled access and experience into how things are built from scratch and how decisions are made under constraint and uncertainty.**

🐐 Your role

Homaio wants to democratize access to compliance carbon markets. We consider carbon allowances to be an extremely attractive alternative asset class with profound transformative potential, and want to build the digital infrastructure that unlocks these assets for individual investors.

We’re hiring a Founder Associate to support the entire organization in delivering our key objectives. While the role is focused on helping the CEO, you will be highly involved with all departments in the company and play a key role on most if not all our ongoing streams. You can be asked to contribute on almost any subject , whether internal or external.

You will be tasked with :

  • Support the entire organization on top priorities.
  • Shadow the CEO on a daily basis and facilitate communication with the rest of the team, with investors, and with prospects.
  • Create new process and resources while improving existing ones, aggregate data & document knowledge and decisions to drive team efficiency and autonomy.
  • Contribute directly to or act as a project coordinator for at least one strategic company project
  • Execute fast with excellence on a broad range of topics

As an early team member, you will also be expected to help us grow and improve as a company, defend our culture and values, and constantly challenge and improve our processes.
