CarbonFarm is creating a sustainable, profitable future for smallholder farmers 🌾

We believe in a future where one billion land stewards can earn a respectable living while taking care of the planet. That’s why we are aligning the two: profitability and climate impact.

Today, agriculture is responsible for 20% of greenhouse gas emissions. To reduce emissions, we need to convince millions of farmers to adopt sustainable practices. CarbonFarm’s mission is to do so by paying farmers a premium when they reduce their carbon footprint. This can be through carbon credits or a higher price for low-carbon products.

But how can we reduce something we can’t measure? 🛰️

CarbonFarm combines AI and satellite data to monitor farming practices and quantify emissions remotely. This simplifies access to carbon markets for farmers and agribusinesses while ensuring transparency for those investing in carbon mitigation.

Where are we starting? 🔎

We are starting with rice, which is responsible for half of crop-related emissions and 12% of global anthropogenic methane emissions. Moreover, simple changes to growing practices can reduce methane emissions by 50% while saving 30% of water use without negatively impacting yield or costs.

The role

As CarbonFarm’s first Product Marketing Manager, you’re not just a team member; you’re a trailblazer. You will be working alongside our CEO at the epicenter of our market strategy, driving our mission to find the perfect product-market fit. You’ll focus on identifying the jobs to be done by our customers along with how our products fit into an evolving carbon market. Your work is essential in shaping our product strategy and ensuring we address the fundamental needs of the market.

🗒️ Responsibilities

  • Conduct customer discovery: dive deep into our different customer segments, bringing a fresh perspective to understanding their specific needs
  • Refine our product packaging and pricing, and represent the market as we refine our product vision: collaborate closely with the founders as we craft product roadmaps that strategically address priority market segments
  • Refine and execute our go-to-market and sales strategy: identify target persona and tailor our sales strategy to each; create comprehensive marketing material and targeted communication plans.
  • Generate new leads and enable sales: drive lead generation and sales support efforts, secure quality opportunities, and support the end-to-end sales process
  • Gather market intelligence: keep the team informed of the latest developments in the carbon markets and carbon accounting

📍Where ?

The role is based in Paris, but we work in English and welcome applications from people abroad willing to relocate. We are happy to sponsor an accelerated French visa if needed.

Compensation

We offer a permanent position (”Contrat à Durée Indeterminée” - CDI) with a competitive salary and stock options. We provide comprehensive health benefits through Alan (mutuelle), Swile card for meal vouchers, and 50% transportation cost coverage.

Profil recherché

🔍 Who you are

  • You have a background as a Product Marketing Manager or Product Manager in an early-stage start-up or as a consultant. You have navigated the pre-Product-Market Fit stages, and are comfortable designing go-to-market, sales, and marketing strategies. You have experience developing client relationships with high-level stakeholders.
  • You are above all a doer and a problem solver. You have an entrepreneurial mindset, you are energetic, curious, and action-oriented. You like to learn and surpass yourself, and you know how to navigate unstructured environments.
  • You are knowledgeable about climate and sustainability, and you’re highly motivated to work on climate mitigation and sustainable agriculture. A background in carbon markets, carbon accounting, and/or agriculture is a big plus.
  • You have bilingual proficiency in English and strong writing skills. You can create compelling presentations and public-facing material. You have multicultural experiences and an ability to connect with stakeholders from diverse cultures and geographies, particularly in target regions like Southeast Asia and India.
