Overall job definition :

The control engineer has a solid experience and skills in control and measurement devices, standalone or integrated into manufacturing, metrology and laboratory equipment. He will synthesis the measurement need/existing answer on several measurement domains and manage this topic from the creation of the requirements to the final set-up for the opening of new production lines/units.

Cross functional role :

With industrial, R&D, quality and purchasing.

Location :

Bruges near Bordeaux with long mission (~6 months) to manufacturing plant (Billy-Berclau to start) and other shorter national and international travel to suppliers.

Main missions :

For laboratory and metrology :

  • Synthesis of measurement needs and existing
  • Search for new technologies, new suppliers and state of the art measurement and control methods to optimise quality, costs and integration in the manufacturing line.
  • Qualify the new solutions before implementation in our future manufacturing lines.
  • During new industrial projects, Analyse the process flow of our Gigafactories manufacturing lines to identify the needs in control and instrumentation equipment.
  • Propose adapted solution within a team from all department (R&D, Quality,…) for each measurement need: technical description like resolution, measure precision according to product tolerance…, while respecting the budget and planning of the project.
  • Write the equipment technical specifications in respect of the industrial constraint and the technical requirement. Review and validate the specification with a cross-functional team. Then Share the specification with potential equipment supplier during a Request For Quotation process and Analyse the suppliers technical solutions to select, in collaboration with purchasing team, the best solution in term of total cost of ownership, schedule and technical proposal.
  • Lead the selected suppliers during realization of the purchased equipment in order to respect the objectives of safety, quality, cost, performance and leadtime. Following the different equipment realization phases: design, manufacturing, installation, commissioning.
  • During equipment installed, ensure setup, initial calibration and operational training.
  • Define and standardise equipment maintenance: periodic verification, maintenance procedures, anomaly diagnostic…

For each gigafactory :

  • Synthetise and optimize all the needs of instrumentation (from all business)
Profil recherché

Knowledge :

  • Control equipments
  • R&R method,
  • Cmk/Cpk measurements...

Experience :

  • Engineer >5 years / Technician >10 years, in industrialisation involving automated control and measurement equipment.
  • Knowledge in metrology/laboratory management

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor or Master in Science: Mechanical, chemical or industrial or physics engineering
  • Fluent in French and English. German optional
