➔ Description of the mission

Digital Africa’s mission is to strengthen the capacity of African entrepreneurs to design and deploy digital innovations at scale to serve the real economy. Digital Africa is a subsidiary of Proparco and a member of the French Development Agency Group.

Our approach is based on a clear diagnosis of the needs of entrepreneurs, directly from the field, to develop a set of programs focused on digital skills training, access to agile equity and debt financing solutions, and supporting ‘made in Africa’ innovation policies.

We are opening a Paris-based position for a 6-month internship, starting in September 2025. You will be joining a team of 27 people all dedicated to supporting African startup ecosystems, based at our French HQ.

The VC team invests €20,000 to €100,000 per company in African tech startups at the Pre-Seed and Seed stages. Your primary responsibility will be to assist us in achieving our mission: equip Africa’s tech entrepreneurs with the capabilities to design and scale-up groundbreaking innovations for the real economy.

YOUR JOB

As a Venture Capital Investment Analyst intern, you’ll be part of one of the most dynamic investment teams, while being part of the French Development Agency Group, benefiting from Digital Africa’s expertise and strong network. You will be involved at every stage of the investment process, tasks you will be working on will be threefold:

Desk Research

  • Writing summary notes on seed investment topics for digital start-ups in Africa
  • Collection, synthesis and analysis of market data: Macro and Micro.

Support the scaling-up of a Seed fund investing in Africa

  • Screening and selection of startups from the candidate base according to an agreed methodology by analyzing their files and making the necessary contacts.
  • Support in the preparation of financing files in support of the investment team: market study, financial modeling, competitive and strategic monitoring
  • Assistance in bringing deals into compliance with legal and technical obligations.
  • Support portfolio monitoring and maintain good relationships with the startups in the portfolio with a view to supporting their growth.

Contribute to the investment team’s operations

  • Monitoring and updating the editorial calendar of the programs;
  • Preparation of post content for social networks in conjunction with the communications team;
  • Development of communication supports in conjunction with our service providers
  • Monitoring of activities related to strategic and operational communication.

More generally, active contribution to the Digital Africa team on cross-functional subjects, as necessary.

Interns in Digital Africa are welcomed to challenge the team, share their opinions out loud, suggest new ideas and work on projects on their own. They also attend investment committee meetings.

MANDATORY

Having an Internship agreement from your school authorizing you to work in France.

REQUIREMENTS

Any academic or professional background will be considered as long as you can show how it relates to investing in early stage startups.

A demonstrated interest in Africa is a plus.

A benefit would be prior expertise in venture capital, investment banking, or entrepreneurship.

  • Paid internship, You will be entitled to a gross salary of 1.200€ per month + 100% reimbursement of your Pass Navigo expenses + daily “tickets restaurants” (lunch vouchers)
