We are looking for a dynamic and passionate individual who is eager to contribute to accelerating the decarbonization of finance.

● Your main mission will be to design and implement activities to engage civil society groups – including NGOs, grassroot activists, industry bodies, financial institutions - to push the European Central Bank (ECB) and Eurosystem to decarbonize its operations and contribute to a clean energy transition.

● In the current inflationary context, this climate-focused campaign entails a strong social component, with exiting fossil fuel being a solution for the climate crisis and contributing to the fight against inequalities and energy poverty. Other levers of action to influence the ECB and relevant regulation bodies can be mobilized.

● You will drive and coordinate joint actions to amplify our messages and contribute to the achievement of our campaign objectives.

● You will work under the supervision of the management and in close collaboration with the current central bank and regulation campaigner.

● The full-time position is to be filled immediately.

About us

We are a fast-growing European NGO focused on the crossover between finance & climate justice, based in Paris. Launched in 2020, Reclaim Finance has already emerged as a go-to organization on climate-related financial issues.

Affiliated to Friends of the Earth France, we aim to make the financial sector work for a sustainable society. In the context of the climate and biodiversity emergencies, one of Reclaim Finance’s priorities is to accelerate the decarbonization of financial flows. Our method to get there: to snatch wins, one by one.

Reclaim Finance exposes the climate impacts of financial actors, denounces the most harmful practices and pressures financial institutions to stop them. Pragmatic, we know how to build alliances with other players and put our expertise at the service of financial institutions and political decision-makers who wish to transform their existing practices in line with ecological imperatives.

Main responsibilities

● Develop a transversal expertise on the multiple levers of action that can be mobilized within civil society and identify those most relevant to Reclaim Finance’s workstream on Central Banks and other regulatory issues.

● With other members of the campaign team and in particular the current central bank campaigner, develop the campaign strategy, tactics, and activities to contribute to the achievement of certain campaign objectives.

● Initiate, lead and coordinate engagement activities identified as relevant for the campaign strategy.

● Initiate, contribute to and coordinate the creation of campaigning materials, communication support and mobilization tools necessary for the operationalization of the decided activities.

● Taking advantage of existing contacts and NGO coalitions, build a network of partners for the campaign. Maintain this network and organize mobilizations (coordination, support, outreach…).

● Ensure that activities and projects are consistent with Reclaim Finance’s political project and that they serve the association’s campaign objectives.

● Contribute to advocacy activities with stakeholders (meetings, writing advocacy notes, etc.).

● Develop and maintain alliances and represent the association to NGO partners and other stakeholders. Notably by organizing coordination calls and supporting partners in mobilization and campaigning activities.

● Participate in the development of the campaign’s communication strategy and plans.

● Contribute to communicating with the media.

● Contribute to the management of the project budget, fundraising and reporting to donors.

● Contribute to the life of Reclaim Finance and cross-functional projects.

Profile

You preferably have at least 2 years of professional experience in a similar position and have demonstrated your ability to coordinate a network and build alliances. You have story-telling skills, have a sense of dialogue and negotiation, and have excellent writing and speaking skills. Your keen sense of strategy and priorities will enable you to carry out your missions successfully.

You are creative, proactive and autonomous, but you are not a lone wolf. On the contrary, you like and know how to work in a team for a collective project. You have excellent interpersonal skills, know how to approach people with empathy and will be able to build strong relationships with a wide range of different actors - from civil society partners to representatives of financial institutions.

You are committed to the fight for climate justice, have a strong understanding of environmental and climate issues, finance and energy, and the fossil fuel industry as much as possible. Ideally, you have already worked with financial and political players or in the NGO community. You do not have to know the functioning of central banks and monetary or prudential policy but have to be motivated to work on it. Above all, you must have curiosity and the ability to learn quickly.

You are fluent in English and French (read/written/spoken). A third language and a background in social sciences or public administration is a plus.

Terms and conditions

● Position to be filled immediately, permanent contract.

● Position ideally based in Paris (3ème arrondissement), with the possibility of teleworking 1 to 2 days per week.

● Flexible working hours during the week. However, we work with international partners in a constantly changing political context. You must therefore occasionally be available for evening and/or weekend work.

● Coverage: 50% transportation card, 50% health insurance and 60% meal vouchers.
