About us:

We leverage the incredible potential of fungal and regenerative biotechnologies to turn waste into wealth. Inspired by over 480 million years of natural R&D, we harness fungi to degrade complex molecules, power bioremediation, recycle textile and produce green chemicals.

Our bioconversion unit uses fungi to cost-effectively turn large volume unused waste streams into high value-added biomolecules: drastically reducing the textile products incinerated or sent to landfill while producing high-quality products to substitute chemical-based surfactants, enzymes and biogas at lower prices.

Job overview

To support the growth of our Computational Biology unit, we are seeking a highly motivated and skilled junior lab technician conducting Nanopore long-read sequencing.

The Lab Technician specializing in Fungal Biotechnology will be instrumental in enhancing fungal biomass production and genetic analysis within our research team.. This role focuses on optimizing fungal culture methods to increase biomass, developing high-quality DNA and RNA extraction protocols, and implementing long-read sequencing techniques using the Nanopore platform. The successful candidate will be directly involved in experimental setup, execution, and analysis, contributing significantly to our ongoing projects in fungal bioremediation. This position requires enrollment in a science-related degree program and a solid foundation in molecular biology techniques, alongside strong analytical and communication skills. The Lab Technician will not only support cutting-edge research but also contribute to the team's understanding and application of advanced genomic tools in environmental science.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with fungal culture development by optimizing enrich methods to enhance fungal biomass
  • Develop and optimize extraction methods to ensure high-quality DNA and RNA from fungi
  • Execute long-read sequencing protocols, including library construction and sequencing using the Nanopore platform

Profile
  • Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Environmental Science, or a related field, or equivalent
  • Foundational knowledge of molecular biology techniques, such as DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, and third-generation sequencing
  • A keen interest in soil microbiology and fungal cultivation
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Fluency in English is required to effectively communicate with team members and service providers
