Key Responsibilities

Senior Underwriting & Portfolio Ownership

  • Underwrite and structure complex parametric insurance solutions covering natural catastrophe, weather, energy and agricultural risks.

  • Set underwriting terms including pricing, limits, triggers, wordings and coverage structures, aligned with AXA Climate’s risk appetite and underwriting guidelines.

  • Act as underwriting owner for key and complex accounts, ensuring disciplined risk selection and sustainable profitability.

  • Manage and optimise the underwriting portfolio to deliver profitable growth in line with annual business plans.

  • Support facultative reinsurance (FAC) placement and structuring in collaboration with the Reinsurance Domain Lead.

Governance, Quality & Technical Leadership

  • Lead the 4‑eye underwriting review process, providing high‑quality, experience‑based feedback on complex cases.

  • Act as a technical mentor for junior underwriters through coaching, case reviews and knowledge sharing.

  • Ensure strong underwriting governance, compliance and consistency across the UK & APAC portfolio.

Broker, Client & Market Engagement

  • Represent AXA Climate with brokers, clients and partners

  • Present and explain parametric insurance products and structures, including coverage design, pricing logic and claims mechanisms.

  • Lead discussions on contractual terms, policy issuance and claims support, working with capacity providers and partners.

  • Provide market insight on competitive landscape, client needs and emerging climate risk trends.

Market Development & Collaboration

  • Work closely with domain leads to expand AXA Climate’s market presence and broker relationships.

  • Build strong internal partnerships with AXA XL and wider AXA Group stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with product, analytics and commercial teams to co‑develop innovative parametric solutions addressing evolving climate risks.


Profile

Candidate Profile

  • 5 to 10 years’ experience in underwriting, risk analysis or actuarial roles, ideally with exposure to climate risk, weather risk, natural catastrophe and or parametric insurance.

  • Experience providing technical oversight, mentoring or informal leadership is advantageous.

  • Strong academic background in a quantitative or scientific discipline such as engineering, actuarial science, meteorology or statistics.

  • Strong analytical skills with sound technical judgement and decision making capability.

  • Confident communicator with the ability to collaborate effectively in an international, fast paced environment
