AXA Climate is looking for an intern who will support the Insurance team in improving its risk analysis with satellite-based imagery processing, advanced statistics and machine learning models.
Its mission will be focused on the modeling of the risk related to wildfire parametric insurance
product to enrich our understanding of this risk in the context of high climate variability, global warming and new types of exposures.
Working within the underwriting team and with support of our wildfire and forest scientist and Data science Domain, the intern will:
- Contribute actively to scientific and technical developments of a new wildfire pricing
model for Carbon Credits forests: generalization of the current pricing model to tropical regions, application of the current model to peatlands, identification of carbon evaluation challenges - Integrate into the current model the impact of the different satellite data sources for burn areas assessment
- Explore the integration of exogenous variables like seasonal climate conditions and client
fire-fighting ressources - Value machine learning results on wildfire risk to improve the understanding of the risk
Support the underwriting of parametric products:
- Evaluate and validate partnerships with model and risk providers
- Explain technical concepts and share modeling approaches with team
- Prepare technical elements for meetings with stakeholders and clients
