AXA Climate is looking for an intern who will support the Insurance team in improving its risk analysis with advanced statistics and machine learning models.

Its mission will be decomposed on two different objectives: first the development of a tool for pricing flood parametric coverages and enrich our understanding of this risk in the context of high climate variability, global warming and new types of exposures, and second to develop a stochastic straight-line wind model in the US.

Working within the underwriting team and with support of our Science Domain, the intern will:

  • Explore and understand different solutions for flood risk assessment, and implement the preferred one into a flood parametric product pricing tool
  • Survey various data sources for straight-line wind modelling in the US, as well as various settlement data options for parametric claims assessment
  • Develop a straight-line wind risk model in the US, to complement the current wind product (hail and tornados)
  • Define and assess appropriate vulnerability curves and payout structures to minimize the basis risk
  • Support the underwriting of parametric products:

    • Evaluate and validate partnerships with model and risk providers
    • Explain technical concepts and share modeling approaches with team
    • Prepare technical elements for meetings with stakeholders and clients
