Responsibilities

His/her main tasks and responsibilities, in collaboration with all the LUCI team include:

  • Strategic Communication: Contribute to the development and deployment of the Communications strategy and plan;
  • Operational Communication: Develop and coordinate day to day communication materials, in conjunction with LUCI events, cooperation projects and other LUCI communication needs; Manage communication tools and channels;
  • Publication Management: Serve as Deputy Editor in Chief of the LUCI Cities & Lighting Magazine, which involves sourcing and writing content and coordinating the editorial and production process from A to Z, including print delivery and dissemination;
  • Social Media Management: Manage LUCI’s presence on social media platforms (including LinkedIn, YouTube, etc);
  • Website: Overall management and updating of the LUCI website. In 2024, a new website has been developed, the Communications Manager will oversee its live deployment.
  • Media/press relations + Network relations: Develop and maintain relationships with press, and media; Ensure visibility of LUCI in the urban lighting ecosystem;

Other:

  • Involvement in International Cooperation Projects (eg EU-funded) depending on scope/needs of each project;
  • Develop and support knowledge exchange and capitalisation activities of the LUCI network thematic contents;
  • Network contacts database upkeep;
  • Participate in ongoing network relations and stewardship;
Profile

Experience and knowledge

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field of study (background in political science/institutional communications/journalism is strongly recommended)
  • At least 5 years of experience in communications for networks or similar position;
  • The following specific experiences are added assets:
  • Experience working on EU funded projects;
  • Experience editing and coordinating thematic publications
  • Experience writing and editing content for digital channels
  • Experience working in an international setting, an international network, and/or with local authorities is strongly recommended;
  • Knowledge of issues related to urban lighting or other urban public policies is an asset;

Skills

  • Excellent proficiency and fluency in English and good working knowledge of French (fully bilingual is strongly recommended);
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and French;
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a high sense of diplomacy and cultural awareness;
  • Strong command of standard IT tools and communication tools such as CRMs, WordPress, Mailchimp, etc;
