Kanop is seeking a talented individual with infinite curiosity to join our mission: help nature-based solutions reach their full potential in the fight against climate change. At kanop, you will work side by side with the founders to enable forest carbon project developers to measure and certify their climate impact, by using satellite images and state-of-the-art AI models.

Responsibilities

The company is young and your role comes with a great deal of freedom in terms of decisions. As our internal Ecosystem Carbon Expert, you will be responsible for building out robust carbon models along with the product and tech team.

Profile
  • 2 to 5 years of professional experience in ecosystem carbon measurement, including methodologies of above and belowground biomass and soil. Advanced degree (Master or PhD) in Environmental Sciences, Ecology, Biogeochemistry, Biology, Remote Sensing, or other field relevant to measuring ecosystem carbon
  • Experience in carbon offset programs and with key certification standards for voluntary carbon markets (in particular with Gold Standard and VCS).
  • Experience in field data collection (e.g. biomass and soil carbon, carbon flux)
  • Experience in using and processing field data to estimate rates of carbon emissions and sequestration, including allometric models and inventory techniques
  • Passionate about biodiversity and nature conservation
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Team spirit & great communication skills
  • Humble and curious with a big appetite to learn discover and experiment new things
  • Accustomed to fast-paced learning environments
