Hello Tomorrow is on a mission to build a future where science and technology can help both humans and our planet thrive, and we want to build it with you.

We are an international team of over 45 people in Paris (24 different nationalities!), with hubs in several other countries.

Over the last 10 years, Hello Tomorrow has created the largest deep tech network, developed strong sector expertise and built a thriving consulting service.

What we do in a nutshell

  • We empower the most promising deep tech startups worldwide through pitch competitions, dedicated programs and direct funding.
  • We foster the investment ecosystem by connecting investors, facilitating peer sharing and educating both LPs and VCs on the specificities of deep tech.
  • We connect all key players – startups, investors, private & public organizations, researchers, universities & incubators – through conferences, B-2-B networking events and online programs.
  • We help companies identify new growth opportunities and leverage deep tech to build the right partnerships and ventures through strategy & innovation consulting.

As Hello Tomorrow blooms, we are looking for a Legal & Data Protection Officer who will support the Director (Clàudia) in legal and complex administrative aspects, help us build, ramp up and then maintain our compliance plan, and support in the restructuring of HT and lead projects related to this restructuring.

You will be part of the Finance, Admin & Legal team and will report directly to our Director of Finance, Administration & Legal.

YOUR FUTURE RESPONSIBILITIES

We’re seeking a skilled legal and compliance professional to manage all legal documentation, centralize contract templates, ensure compliance with various regulations (including cybersecurity, data protection, AI, and labor), negotiate contracts, execute legal aspects of restructuring, and deliver training on legal risks and compliance topics to the team.

WHAT WILL YOU CONCRETELY DO?

Contract Management & Legal Operations

  • Drafting and regularly updating the company’s contractual templates: NDA, MSA, Partnerships, Subcontracting Agreements, T&C, Service Contracts, etc.
  • Analysing and negotiating the contractual documents of our prospects, clients, suppliers, and partners
  • Participating in responding to RFPs regarding complex administrative, legal and data privacy matters
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of policies and processes in order to improve and streamline the handling of legal issues, and guarantee acculturation of all teams to legal issues
  • Identifying exposure on critical press releases and communication materials
  • Ensuring the protection of the Hello Tomorrow brand by following and updating the intellectual property protection strategy
  • Keeping the company’s legal records up to date (registre des actionnaires, AGs, PVs, etc.)
  • Executing complex administrative projects such as company restructuring and subsidiary creation with the Director and the help of external lawyers

Compliance & Data Protection

  • Ensuring GDPR compliance:
  • mapping the existing compliance both internal and external;
  • suggesting and implementing measures to increase and/or guarantee compliance;
  • setting up and facilitating team training and awareness;
  • monitoring and updating documentation (DPA, privacy policies, internal data management policies, etc.)
  • Assisting in the design of compliance improvement plans and contributing to their continuous improvement, especially as legislation shifts
  • Leading and executing compliance projects
Profile

Preferred Experience

  • You have a Law Degree (BAC+5 or equivalent) with at least 3 years of experience in a similar position
  • You are proficient in English and French (C1 at least in both languages), with the ability to effectively articulate complex legal concepts in both languages
  • You have demonstrated traits of being organized, pragmatic, curious, and a team player
  • You are super detail-oriented, rigorous and methodical
  • You have excellent negotiation skills and excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate across teams, providing legal guidance in a clear and accessible manner
  • You have the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • You are interested in our business, have a good business understanding and are mission-driven
  • DPO certification is a plus
  • A previous experience in Compliance matters (GDPR, cybersecurity, people among others) OR/AND as a general legal counsel (touching different aspects of the law at once instead of focusing on just one) OR/AND with group-related administrative matters is a plus
  • Experience in a growing startup or a small company is a plus

THIS JOB IS NOT FOR YOU IF YOU ARE

  • A lawyer too specialised
  • Someone with interest in only one part of the scope
  • Someone who is not willing to learn other disciplines and lend a hand to others in the team (finance, etc.) when needed
  • Someone who is not resourceful and who is too stuck in the law, the rules and is incapable of seeing the bigger picture or being a bit flexible
  • Someone who is not nice yet assertive
