Automotive Cells Company (ACC) is one of Europe’s newest and most exciting high-tech companies. Backed by Saft-Total, Stellantis-Opel and Mercedes-Benz, ACC is set to power the future of the automotive industry by innovating in battery technology.
We aim to produce sustainable, affordable, high-capacity, longer-life batteries as a cleaner alternative to current energy sources. We create an R&D center and new state-of-the art facility in France (New Aquitaine), with gigafactories to be built in Hauts de France and Germany.

Main missions, Objectives and KPIs related :

-         Conception, building, organization and operation of laboratory in KL according to QM Standards suitable for RD and Production for the materials and processes related to separator, electrolyte and cell manufacturing
-         Prepare laboratory capability to execute incoming and intermediate process materials for R&D purposes and as a quality assurance service to production for the materials and intermediate products for separator and electrolyte as well as other cell components
-         Support the production mainly for separator and electrolyte related activities and cell manufacturing topics as well as the know-how transfer from pilot plant
-         Establishment of a defects catalog for detection of anomalies electrolyte and separator as well as other cell components including their optical inspection in production
-         Responsible for upscaling and production introduction of further technologies concerning electrolyte and separator as well as other cell components
-         Responsible for cell building in Application Engineering Center for small lab test cells
-         Collaborate and exchange information with the ACC sites and groups in relation to Chemistry at all TRL levels for cell related topics as well as for separator and electrolyte
-         Technical exchange with material and component suppliers for the components necessary for the manufacturing of cells with focus on separator and electrolyte
-         Ensure the fulfillment of all legal and ACC HSE requirement for all chemicals and materials necessary for cell manufacturing at the RD Center Kaiserslautern as well as their handling within the RD premises and eventually their disposal
-         Contact point for forward looking assessment of chemical regulations with relevance to cell components including separator and electrolyte in ACC KL
-         Travel to mainly European destinations
-         Actively share best practice experience, suggestions for overall process improvements at ACC

Profile

Knowledge / Know how
Electrolyte and/or separator for Lithium ion batteries.
In depth understanding of cell production and cell performance

Experience
Several years of preferably industrial Li ion battery cell experience

Qualifications
Completed University degree or equivalent, e.g. chemistry or materials sciences
Read, write and speak English and German fluently
