About  Sparknews

Launched in 2012, Sparknews is a social start-up that was created by Christian de Boisredon (Ashoka Fellow). Our aim is to scale up the impact of innovative social and environmental projects around the world, by working with leading media, social entrepreneurs and innovators, and the corporate world.

3 main activities:

SOURCING innovative projects from all over the world that have a high social and environmental impact and developing expertise in these sectors.

SHARING these solutions in companies during conferences and forums and with the widest audience possible via large scale media operations:

  • Impact Journalism Day, with 55+ leading media in 50+ countries - that publish supplements on the same day, together reaching over 120 million readers (Le Figaro, Asahi Shimbun, The Straits Times, USA today, Al Hayat, La Presse, Le Soir...).

  • Solutions&Co, with 20+ business newspapers worldwide (Les Echos, De Tijd, Handelsblatt, Kommersant, Financial Times...). In 2015 Solutions&Co focused on business solutions for climate, with 20 media partners publishing a dedicated supplement in November to coincide with the warm-up to COP21.

ASSISTING companies in their social innovation strategy – for example through conferences, consultancy missions, seminars, dedicated projects and our Positive Innovation Club.

Main missions for the intern

  • Conducting in-depth research on business solutions to climate change issues around the world

  • Identifying the most innovative companies and projects to be featured in leading business media as part of Solutions&Co

  • Developing and managing partnerships with leading organizations in the fields of energy and the environment

  • Contacting leaders of innovative projects based around the world to collect data

  • Managing complex documents and databases

  • Assisting with other duties as assigned

Qualities and skills required

  • English native speaker desirable, fluency in French essential, other languages (Spanish, Portuguese, Hindi, Mandarin, Arabic, etc.) highly desirable

  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of climate-related issues

  • Precision and strong attention to detail, good research skills

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team, with good social skills

  • Strong interest in our key themes: media, innovation, social entrepreneurship, environment

  • Ability to multi-task and take initiative

Background: Engineering, environmental studies, business (“Convention de stage” is obligatory)

Location: Paris 9e Start date: April 1st, 2016

Remuneration: € 554 per month + 50% of transportation costs
