In this context of fast-growth, Reforest’Action is offering a new opportunity for a Junior Carbon Project Officer to lead AFOLU project certification under Voluntary Carbon Market standards.
The junior project officer intervenes throughout the project development cycle and manages certification in a way to ensure timely generation of carbon credits.

Under the supervision of her manager, build in-depth knowledge of existing AFOLU methodologies for project certification under the VCS, Gold Standard and other VCM standards if needed :

  • Assess new AFOLU project opportunities and conduct feasibility studies, from an operational a technical and a financial standpoint, in the prospect of project investment from Reforest’Action clients
  • In close collaboration with regional managers and local project managers, make sure project design, implementation and monitoring are in line with Voluntary Carbon Market standards and methodologies requirements
  • Draft all the project documentation, as required as part of the certification cycle
  • Coordinate third-party audits and reviews by the standard (desk review and field audits)
  • Perform watch on new standards’ initiatives including new methodologies, digital monitoring / remote
    sensing, standards evolutions, in a way to stay at the state of the art in certification of AFOLU projects
  • Through technical input, collaborate with other teams, including communications, sales, credits
    procurement, etc.

Your qualifications and experiences

  • Degree from a top-ranking engineering school (either in agronomy or physics);
  • 6 months to 3 years work experience. A first experience in consulting, climate or forestry, or personal
    implication on climate-related projects will be considered a plus.

Your skills & attitudes

  • Determination to contribute to climate change mitigation and ecosystems regeneration. Excellent general understanding of climate / environmental stakes
  • Broad interest for the Voluntary Carbon Market
  • Fluency in English and French is required. Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese would be considered a
  • Rigor, attention to detail
  • Curiosity, ability to learn fast and to deliver on topics recently learnt
  • Autonomy
  • Willingness to travel abroad and work on the field when needed (typically 1-2 weeks 1 to 3 times a

NB: No extensive experience on the Voluntary Carbon Market and project certification is required for
this position. However, the selected candidate will have demonstrated ability to rapidly build capacity on a wide range of areas including scientific, technical, legal, trainings delivery, etc.
