Masae Analytics is a fast-growing start-up company providing consulting services based on Data Science.

We develop innovative concepts on a wide array of topics as diverse as geo-marketing, digital divide analytics, telecom data analytics, mobile financial services, satellite imagery and social media analysis.

Together with our sister company Altai Consulting (, Masae Analytics works for both public sector / non-profit clients (the United Nations, the World Bank, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the GSMA, etc.) and corporate (retailers, mobile network operators, etc.) in emerging markets, mostly Sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East.

Subjects of interest include climate change mitigation and environment protection, peace-building in conflict affected states, development of renewable energies, impact evaluation of development programs, access to infrastructure and the analysis of migration trends.

Job description

Key aspects of the Data Scientist mission will be to:

  • Understand clients’ needs
  • Conduct statistical and business analytics
  • Use data science techniques to propose the most innovative solutions to clients’ problems
  • Design and implement new approaches to answer clients’ needs
  • Produce analytical reports and presentations
  • Develop and optimise tools

Location: Paris with potential travel to Africa / Middle-East



General requirements:

  • Curiosity, flexibility, attention to details and strong work ethics
  • Sensitivity to data security and confidentiality
  • Eagerness to travel and discover new cultures & environments

Technical requirements:

  • Knowledge of Python, Data Science environments (Jupyter Notebook, Pandas, etc.)
  • Open Data collection and processing (Python Requests, API, …)
  • At least basic knowledge in web development (HTML, CSS, Javascript and/or Django/Flask frameworks)


  • Knowledge of geographic information tools (ArcGIS, QGIS) and their Python interface
  • Knowledge of SQL and of its open source implementations (Postgres, MySQL, SQLite)
  • Knowledge of NoSQL (MongoDB) or Hadoop / Apache Spark or tools like Splunk or Elastic Search
  • Comfortable with big data manipulation, parallel computing and machine learning (scikit-learn…)
  • Knowledge of Unix shell (OS X / Linux)
