Internship location: Energy Cities’ office in Besançon (France) if COVID-19 pandemic allows

Internship timing: full time, AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

Duration: 6 months

Interviews with shortlisted candidates are foreseen on 22-23 June.

Position:

We are hiring a candidate with strong motivation to assist us in the, launching, shaping and implementing of our community spaces to activate, empower and inspire local leaders towards a climate-neutral Europe.

Energy Cities’ members can join and benefit free-of-charge from five action-oriented HUBs, aligned with our intervention systems and impact targets.

The candidate will specifically assist with the development and set-up of HUB 4 | Future-proof food systems & land policies

This hub will support and inspire cities to develop policies and actions to accelerate food systems transitions.

Missions and activities:

· Support the exploratory work to further define the scope of Hub4 in collaboration with Energy Cities’ members (organizing exploratory webinars and interviews, synthesis and follow up)

· Contribute to mapping the European ecosystem of key actors within these fields

· Support project managers in preparing a pipeline of projects in the field

· Do research on sustainable food systems, urban food governance, urban food production, urban-rural links, connections between the New European Bauhaus and food system transitions

· Carry out specific interviews with Energy Cities’ member cities to understand their achievements and needs in the field

· Prepare case studies on the above-mentioned topics

· Support with digesting EU policies in the field and contribute to their communication to Energy Cities member

· Support with setting up a learning programme for the cities on the above-mentioned topics

· Support global coordination and communication activities within HUB4: contribute to newsletters preparation, info sharing on our community platform, organization of workshops and webinars, storytelling, preparing main takeaways

· Support the overall coordination across the 5 hubs, specifically in relation to the tasks of: info-sharing and external communication.

· Support the overall hubs’ community platform help desk

Eligibility

o Level of education: Bachelor’s degree

o Candidates must be enrolled in a university (post Bachelor)

o Post-graduate candidate will not be taken into consideration unless a contract can still be signed with a University

Academic background

o Candidates should have an academic background in: Sustainable Development, Food Science, Urban Governance, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, or similar with a strong interest and focus on sustainable food systems.

Language

o Excellent command of English

Other skills

o Excellent writing skills and spirit of synthesis

o Good interpersonal skills

o Good organisational capacities, ability to prioritise and manage workload

o Ability to work in an international team

o Ability to take initiative

o Good command of computer skills: Microsoft Office, Social Networks (Facebook, Twitter), Canva or similar would be a plus

WORKING CONDITIONS

· Work place location: Energy Cities – 2B chemin de Palente,

25000 Besançon (please note that depending on the sanitary situation, you may have to telework)

· Dates of the internship: As soon as possible

· Duration: 6 months (with 1 holiday per month of internship)

· Allowance: EUR850 /month
