/// JOB MISSION ///

You will be the first People & Culture hire in a fast-growing social enterprise! In 6 years, Bridge has grown to a team of 26 people from 13 nationalities, with a headquarter in Madrid where most of our team is based; an emerging LatAm HQ in Antigua, Guatemala with a few team members; and a few people based in different places around the world. It’s likely we will end the year 2022 as a team of 40 people.

Your key mission will be to establish the People & Culture Area at Bridge for Billions. This Area will help our people and culture to grow through strategizing, hiring, onboarding, nurturing and setting up processes. We are convinced that a healthy, fulfilled and productive team directly translates into having a higher impact in the entrepreneurship ecosystem. You will work closely with the leadership team and all of the company to ensure just that.

We are looking for a generalist who has previous experience in startup and can handle a lot of hiring at times as well as have a seat at the leadership table, design organograms, work on nurturing leadership hand in hand with team leads, avoid stagnation and set up people processes that will help us grow. We are looking for someone who is not afraid to see their role evolve frequently.

We also want someone who truly embodies our culture. Our core values are empathy, grit, courage and gumption. We are a team of entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs. We believe in transparent relationships, we have an international mindset, we strive for self-management so that anyone can have a big impact on the organization’s growth, we can operate despite high levels of uncertainty, we value open and respectful feedback, we foster risk-taking and failing fast, we seek continuous innovation and impact.

/// ROLES & CONTRIBUTIONS ///

By order of importance

1) Hiring & Onboarding (40% time)

  • Work closely with every team lead from the hiring need to the job definition and organogram design, until the onboarding process.
  • Rebuild the internal recruitment to optimize for quality and accuracy of hiring, deep dive into different areas of the candidate assessment like purpose, culture fit, soft skills, technical skills, management approach, working style, and communication.
  • Manage the hiring pipeline and keep candidates moving through each phase of the hiring process.
  • Talent acquisition: own and coordinate the hiring process for new team members, scout the best possible candidates for all open roles, ensure the best hiring strategy depending on the role and country.
  • Employer branding: harmonize all offers and communicate our culture all throughout the recruiting process.
  • Perform first interviews with candidates in person or via one-way video interviews, coordinate the business case, final interview and reference check.
  • Document all interviews performed and keep a pipeline of high-potential candidates for future openings.
  • Train each interviewer in our team on the hiring process to reduce hiring mistakes and maximise chances of identifying candidates who will actually perform well.
  • Make sure everyone is onboarded properly to the company, check-in frequently with new hires and host onboarding check-ins at various points during the first months.

2) People & Culture management (30% time)

  • Contribute to short and long-term organizational planning and strategy as a member of the management team.
  • Receive feedback from the team and keep a pulse on cultural issues that may be brewing.
  • Catch possible tactical misalignments within the company and raise them.
  • Accompany the teams to share good practices in the management of teams, projects, etc.
  • Follow-up continuously on employees' level of satisfaction and wellbeing within Bridge for Billions.
  • Report on key People & Culture metrics at monthly Strategy Meetings.
  • Lead organizational changes within the team and keep refining our management model inspired from teal, holacracy, agile & more.
  • Advise team leads in complex people situations as well as off-boarding or sunsetting processes.
  • In the case of someone leaving, perform exit interviews to get insights into areas that need more attention.

3) People Operations & Processes (20% time)

  • Contribute to define and scale the management model, meetings, communication spaces and other rituals.
  • Be the person in charge of optimizing our tools and processes for efficiency and transparency.
  • Create a company handbook that outlines the policies and processes in use at Bridge for Billions.
  • Integrate an HR software to manage all people processes that can be.
  • Handle monthly payroll for the whole team.
  • Create and manage the budget for People related events, training and general needs in relation to the financial health of the company.
  • Create a system and manage quarterly performance bonus.
  • Organize all People-related documentation (contracts, invoices of external providers, etc.)

4) Growth and Development (10% time)

  • Work with COO and CEO to create growth plans for each person in the team in collaboration with each Area lead.
  • Create systems for performance management: how to nurture top talent and manage underperformance and train all team members to use them.
  • Have regular “team health” check-ins with each Area’s lead to understand how that team is doing and what they need.
  • Plan learning space based on needs identified (examples: workshops either done in house or through finding a consultant or facilitator if needed).
