🔎 What we’re looking for

After raising a big seed round from prominent European venture capital and impact firms, we are looking for a Business Development profile to join our team in Paris. The management team is experienced, ambitious and gathers serial entrepreneurs, investors and data scientists.

You will work directly with the CEO, and in being the driving force in securing new business and partnerships for us, will be at the forefront of innovation in the ESG and sustainability industry. The world is changing. In order to succeed companies must now go beyond financial metrics and integrate environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors in their strategies and ways of working.

Concretely it means addressing questions such as:

  • What’s the environmental impact of my business?
  • Are my recruiting practices equitable?
  • Am I positively impacting all stakeholders?

This is critical for companies to appeal to more customers, and have an edge in attracting top talent and investment.

At apiday we are building a collaborative platform for forward-thinking companies to effectively manage their ESG data.

Our system allows ESG information to flow easily from company data sources to an expertly curated database, with which customers can:

  • Automate their ESG reporting or certification process
  • Collaborate with ESG consultants to build a sustainability action plan
  • Communicate and visualise ESG actions and data

In summary, we are replacing inefficient workflows and messy Excels, with a fully-featured operating system for sustainability data.

Profile

🚀 Purpose & Responsibilities

As part of the Growth team, you’ll be the at the heart of the engine which is securing us new customers and revenue. Your primary purpose will be to:

  • Research and identify new business opportunities, including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, products and services and new ways of reaching existing markets; and
  • Generate and close new opportunities that grows apiday’s revenue base.

Your role would have the following key responsibilities:

  • Identifying, nurturing and closing new business opportunities with key decision-makers at prospective customers, including preparing and delivering sales pitches and managing target customers through the customer journey
  • Engage with customers who are on the platform and yet to convert to paying customers, to ensure they understand the full potential of apiday, and in turn convert to active, paying customers
  • Maintaining up-to-date information on prospective customers and key contacts in our CRM system
  • Helping to identify and implement apiday’s expansion into new markets
  • Assisting with the preparation of product and marketing resources
  • Represent apiday at forums such as industry events and conferences, as necessary
  • Screen organic leads and traction generated through marketing and partnership activities
  • Assist with and prepare outbound campaigns to generate highly qualified leads
  • Coordinate and manage select content-based marketing efforts, such as webinars or podcasts
  • Educate and inform both existing and potential customers about the power of apiday and the positive impact it will have on their organisation
  • Feed back what you hear on the front line to the Product, Customer Success and Marketing teams to inform the product roadmap to ensure our platform is highly responsive to the market demand

🎾 About you

  • Prior experience in a business development role, ideally within a B2B SaaS business
  • Deep interest in sustainability in general, as well as environmental and social challenges. Knowledge of key ESG concepts, reporting frameworks and regulatory environment are highly valued, but not critical given our internal training materials
  • Genuine, confident and credible, with a strong communication and presentation skillset and the ability to deliver ideas concisely to internal and external stakeholders at all seniority levels
  • Excellent business acumen, attention to detail and interpersonal skills. You will need to develop relationships at the senior level and understand how apiday will integrate into diverse customers’ workflows
  • Results-orientated with a data-driven approach to solving problems and identifying the most time and cost efficient course of action to achieve your goals
  • Fluency in English is important since it is our primary working language, and conversational French is a plus since we’re based in Paris
  • Strong desire to work for a purpose-driven tech startup in a dynamic environment
