Overall job definition:

The primary responsibility will be to conduct comprehensive benchmarking studies, data analysis, and performance assessments to support the development and improvement of cutting-edge EV battery systems.

Main mission:

Benchmarking battery technologies:

Carry out a complete and detailed analysis on battery characteristics, such as technical characteristics (dimensions, weight, materials, …) or performance parameters (energy density, power density, life cycle, thermal performance, safety features, …). Conduct thorough data analysis to identify trends, strengths, and weaknesses of different battery technologies.

Competitor Analysis:

Gather information on the batteries used by the main competitors in the electric vehicle market. This analysis helps to understand competitors' strategies and technological choices, as well as identifying trends, strengths, and weaknesses of different battery technologies.

Technological watch:

Monitor and analyze the EV battery market and keep abreast of the latest advancements in battery technology. Identify competitive advantages and areas for improvement to guide the company's battery development strategy.

Tests and trials:

It may be necessary to carry out tests and trials on competing batteries in order to verify advertised performance and obtain reliable data for objective comparison.

Collaboration:

Work closely with design and R&D teams to communicate benchmarking findings and support the development of next-generation battery systems. Collaborate with external partners and vendors to ensure access to cutting-edge benchmarking facilities and data.

Reports and Presentation:

Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations summarizing benchmarking results, analysis, and recommendations. Present findings to management, engineering teams, and stakeholders to facilitate data-driven decision-making.

Profile

Qualification:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. A Master's degree or Ph.D. may be preferred.

Experience:

Proven experience in conducting benchmarking studies, preferably in the field of battery technology or automotive systems.

Strong knowledge of electric vehicle batteries, including lithium-ion and emerging battery chemistries, as well as their manufacturing processes and performance metrics.

Key behaviours:

Excellent analytical skills and ability to interpret complex data sets.

Strong communication and presentation skills to effectively convey findings and recommendations to diverse audiences.

Ability to work in a collaborative environment and coordinate with multiple teams to achieve common goals.
