We are seeking curriculum design consultants to support us as we develop curriculum for pilot programs. The consultant would be responsible for developing instructional content for individual sessions in the bootcamp training under the guidance of lead curriculum designers for the program. This training will be grounded in relevant workplace activities and will include the technical skills and knowledge, behavioral skills, and mindsets that are required for success on the job and in support of long-term employment. Technical and behavioral skills and mindsets will be taught and practiced in an integrated way throughout the bootcamp training.

The work will be project-based, and ideally, designers will work full-time for the duration of the design process (~4-8 weeks), though part-time designers will also be considered. Work will be remote (no relocation required).

Responsibilities may include:

  • Design the active learning experiences for each session
  • Design practice-based, active learning content for each session (e.g., role plays, simulations, field experiences, etc.)
  • Design all supporting materials for each session, including scripted facilitator guides, student handouts, instructor debrief guides for activities, etc. so that, at scale, a typical instructor could deliver the lesson effectively with limited or no additional support
  • Design for in-person and online context across multiple sectors (e.g. tech and healthcare) in alignment with our methodology
  • Throughout the process, work closely with employer partners and other education partners (e.g., technical training experts) by obtaining feedback and iterating lessons accordingly
  • Upload content to LMS and/or making modifications to existing content on LMS
  • Track progress via project plans

Required experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably with a master’s degree in instructional design or education curriculum design
  • Minimum of 2 years in curriculum design experience
  • Experience planning and scripting individual objective-driven lessons
  • Experience developing active, practice-based learning experiences (e.g., simulations, role plays, etc.; not lectures and worksheets)
  • Comfort with using technology to collaborate (e.g., Googledocs, Zoom video conference, etc.)
  • Consistent, reliable access to the Internet is required

Preferred experience:

  • Experience teaching and/or designing instructional content for students from at-risk communities
  • Experience teaching and/or designing instructional materials for young adults between the ages of 18 and 29 years old and older adults reentering the workforce or seeking out a new career path
  • Experience designing for online or blended programs
  • Experience designing on a Learning Management System (LMS)
  • Fluency in speaking other languages such as French, Spanish, Urdu, etc. a plus

Mindsets

  • Proactive collaborator, willing to propose solutions and ideas to challenges based on expertise, debate their merits, and make final recommendations for lesson design
  • Self-reflective and open to frequent feedback from employer and training partners
  • Detail oriented (able to produce instructor-ready documents)
