Job description

Do you want to help shape local democracy for the digital age? You've come to the right place.

Working at CitizenLab

CitizenLab introduces an improved way of local democracy for the digital era. Our SaaS platform, used by already over 75 European cities and municipalities, facilitates a two-way communication between the city and its citizens. We're on a mission to empower many more citizens and give them a direct say in their town hall's decisions, while helping governments take smarter policy decisions.

What is Digital Marketing at CitizenLab like?

If you are thrilled about digital marketing and have a strong interest in (e-)democracy, we want to talk to you. We are looking for a Digital Marketing Manager to develop, implement, track and optimize our digital marketing campaigns across all digital channels — with a strong focus on content marketing. Your main responsibilities include:

  • Undertaking content marketing initiatives to drive traffic, engagement, leads, that deliver sales and customer retention.
  • Building and maintaining our social media presence and grow a strong brand that is known for its impact in digital democracy.
  • Planning and executing digital marketing campaigns, including web, SEO/SEM, email, social media and paid channels.
  • Measuring and reporting on the performance of all digital marketing campaigns.

Who are we looking for?

You should have a strong grasp of marketing tools and strategies and be able to lead digital marketing campaigns from concept to execution. Your hands-on attitude and strong interest in democracy, participation and/or politics will help you craft the most valuable content strategies.

  • Proven experience as digital marketer.
  • Ability to run new experiments on the website, on landing pages, and through marketing channels.
  • Editorial mindset with an ability to write high-value content for both government and citizens.
  • Understanding of how to analyze and judge effectiveness of funnels, campaigns, retention, and A/B tests.
  • An excellent familiarity with SEO, email, and social channels.
  • Excellent skills in English and in French. Dutch is a big plus.

What you can expect from us

We're a small, results-oriented team, based in Brussels. We're driven by helping our cities and citizens have impact. It's a fast-paced, collaborative and supportive environment. Your co-workers are high-impact, low-ego. We expect you to be the same. :)
