Job description
As PLACE Labs increase in Paris and beyond, the team is looking for curious and bold individuals to act as ‘Lab Hosts’ – people with strong experience in workshop facilitation and innovation processes. If you’re a fast-mover with talent and experience to join our diverse and experienced team leading the labs, then let’s connect. About the role: The Lab Host oversees the unfolding of a lab from A to Z. Experience in facilitation and innovation work, excellent management skills, a grounded personality and love of fun and people are what it takes. Oh, and an amazing intercultural sensitivity. We provide training to become a Lab Host for PLACE but a background or experience in design-thinking, human-centred design, start-up support, service-design or prototyping is a plus, but not an absolute condition. If you think you might be a good fit, let us know and tell us why. Most PLACE Labs will be in Paris, but some will unfold in Berlin, London or other capitals. Lab Hosts join PLACE on a freelance basis and will commit to hosting four labs per year minimum (there could be more depending on your availability). We’ll determine dates together – each lab lasts on average two days, takes place mainly on a week-end, and will entail preparation on top of delivery. You’ll be joining a fun-loving, highly professional team and a vibrant community. Fluency in French and English and a sense of humour are required. What’s involved: A free-lance engagement with PLACE Network The opportunity to apply your skills with a diverse group of migrants, refugees and host civil society participants, to deepen the impact of your skills Further training on facilitation techniques that you may not be familiar with, including service-design, innovation and entrepreneurship A vibrant community of creative, engaged individuals and partner organizations Certification delivered jointly by PLACE and Wow!Labs on your facilitation, intercultural and entrepreneurial support skills
How to apply?
Send us your CV, as well as your answer (in any form you wish – written, audio or video) to the question: “Why would you be a perfect Lab Host for PLACE?” Please tell us about situations where you have been responsible for a team, facilitated or organised events, worked in intercultural contexts, overcome delicate group dynamics and/or taken high responsibility in making something work at a high standard. Call for PLACE Lab Hosts is open on a rolling basis, but applications received before October 15th will receive priority treatment for the next cycle of Labs.
