AKUO USA

Taking advantage of the economically attractive solar and wind market in the US, Akuo USA is serving as the Akuo platform to expand the business in the USA. Managed as an independent company, Akuo USA is benefitting from Akuo international track record and network in renewable energies in over 30 countries.
In the USA, Akuo currently operates 600 MW of wind projects (4 parks) and develops 9 projects for 1600 MW. The US current team has 25 employees, and we plan to grow the team with the business in the short-medium term. 
 

Job Description

The Asset Manager will be responsible for Asset Management related services for all Akuo’s North American portfolio currently over 600MW of capacity and the growing portfolio at 1600 MWs. You will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and effective operation of renewable energy generation assets. Responsibilities include assessing financial performance, optimizing operational efficiency, monitoring contract compliance, counterparty reporting and assisting in automation of processes and systems.

Mission:

Asset Manager ensures that the assets, individually and as part of a wider portfolio, achieve their maximum technical and financial performance over the long term.

The Asset Manager ensures safe and compliant operation of the assets while also proactively identifying and managing risk. 

Asset Manager considers the respective interests of the stakeholders (local communities and authorities, service providers, investors, and lenders, etc.) to ensure value creation for all parties. Leverage our extensive operational knowledge to support the Akuo Group, and third-party customers, throughout the entire project lifecycle: development, construction, operation, and decommissioning.

Asset Management Responsibilities

  • Be the general manager of the asset and ultimately responsible for performance, compliance, and administration of the project working in close coordination with all Akuo USA and Global department and support functions.
  • Monitor and analyze the key financial performance indicators of the project and reporting to relevant business partners and investors. Produce recurring operating reports and analyze all aspects of the plant operation and performance.
  • Perform oversight of operating wind, solar, and all our renewable projects, including researching, analyzing, and clarifying operational variances. Make sound recommendations based on data analysis. Manage availability guarantees and LDs for each of our assets.
  • Support reconciliation of land lease payments for invoicing and assist in all recurring invoicing for all our contractual obligations.
  • Identify areas of process improvement and automation to support Akuo’s effort for optimization and best-in-class Asset Management Services including working with the global Asset Management and IT teams on strategic initiatives to develop and integrate asset management tools to the global Akuo’s IT architecture and automation of processes and systems.
  • Owns the relationship with a variety of stakeholders such as interdepartmental teams, landowners, and highly sophisticated investors with global portfolios.
  • Assist with Regulatory Compliance including compliance with all NERC, RTO/ISO, environmental, and other local and governmental requirements.
  • Assist in Power Marketing efforts as required by the individual assets including managing off-take agreements (PPA’s), the scheduling entities utilized for energy trading scenarios and the tracking and reporting of these transactions.
  • Represent the asset’s interest at the project level to assure maximum profitability and return on investment including owning the budget process.
  • Track daily turbine performance and look for opportunities to improve performance and maximize production. Boost Profitability with Data-Driven Decisions and maximize the yield of your assets requires a laser-focused, data-supported performance strategy. Development of scripts / tools that could benefit all wind farms worldwide.
  • Assure awareness of corporate operations personnel of any project level problem that may affect project performance.
  • Participate in project & customer meetings, conferences, and discussions to assure active involvement in the projects’ affairs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or above, equivalent undergraduate degree with concentration in Business, Finance, Accounting, or comparable work experience.
  • 6-8 years’ experience within the renewables industry, ideally with a heavy focus on financial success of the asset and can work with complex financial structure and models.
  • Independent that operates with high integrity and is a high achiever.
  • Advanced knowledge in Excel and Power Point presentations. Additional consideration for working of coding languages.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships and use influence rather than authority to achieve desired outcomes.
  • High attention to details and the ability to work proactively and productively without direct supervision.
  • Ability to concisely frame issues by providing context, analysis, recommendations, and tradeoffs, both in verbal and written format, to the Asset Management team and to senior management. Ability to recommend process improvements and carry on projects related to automation and process improvements.
  • Focuses on documentation and control processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects or assignments simultaneously, assess and adjust quickly to changing priorities.
  • Knowledge of ERCOT, PJM, MISO, SPP, CAISO and other RTO/ISO markets.
