About the position

We are looking for an energy system modeller who will contribute to the development of our proprietary model NATEM (North American TIMES Energy Model), in collaboration with colleagues. NATEM the only economy-wide energy system optimization model for the exhaustive analysis of optimal energy and climate strategies in North America.

Key responsibilities

· Document and reference techno-economic parameters of existing and emerging technologies from multiple sources, including scientific publications, and update the model.

· Develop mini models (in Excel) in order to build missing data, project the long-term evolution of certain parameters and test different assumptions.

· Design complex energy system models and integrate new sectors and technologies in NATEM and other models.

· Calibrate energy and climate policy scenarios, including net-zero scenarios for Canada, USA and Mexico.

· Work on output visualization tools and analyze results on a continuous basis.

· Respond to client questions on data and assumptions included in the model.

· Present results to clients and partners during projects (if desired).

Profil recherché

· Master's degree in engineering, science, mathematics or other quantitative disciplines

· 2-5 years of relevant professional experience

· Skill in energy system modelling

· Knowledge of energy systems and greenhouse gas emissions mitigation options

· Great motivation for data collection, treatment and analysis

· Autonomy for problem solving and self-organization of work flows

· Excellent knowledge of French and / or English, both oral and written

· Knowledge of economy-wide energy system modelling approaches will be an advantage: optimization (e.g. TIMES) or simulation (e.g. LEAP)
